In Need of Assistance

Okay, I am trying my best to break my writer’s block. Nothing is working so far. The fairy tale I am writing has the main theme of, well, winter. It’s always cold and snowy and there is magic out on the land, in winter, that one cannot deny.

So I ask you: What songs make you think of winter? Not Christmas-related but wintery.

Music always help me set a writing mood so I want to create a playlist.

Also, themes of longing or coming to terms with letting someone you love go are helpful, too.

Dean Martin’s Winter Romance is a mellow non-Christmas one, if that’s the mood you’re going for. All the other Winter-themed songs I usually listen to are normally associated with Christmas, though. :( Not much of a music person, I’m sorry! *but sends you hugs and hot chocolate at least*

Fairytale by Alexander Rybak Twilight Campfighter by Guided by Voices Breathe Me by Sia (also makes me feel a chill) In the Cold, Cold Night by The White Stripes The Light Before We Land (Theme song to Gunslinger girl, ethereal/melancholy) Bris by Kaizer’s Orchestra (Not actually in English, but find the lyrics translation it’s wintery) Mr. Gaunt Pt 1000 by Soap & Skin Wait So Long by Trampled by Turtles Eli the Barrow Boy by The Decemberists (Okay this one just makes me sad) White Magic by Pogo Aaaaand I think that’s all I got for now. I just sort of listed both of what you asked. I tend to just think of christmas music = winter. And I am not fond of christmas music, except for Carol of the Bells. XD I probably could have come up with 5 times the amount if it were for summery songs.

pardon me for being a stranger replying, but I adore your fanfic and thought I’d toss some songs from my own McCoy playlist at you Brightest Star (subdudes- Miracle Mule album) is a winter song, though more southern-y than gobs of snow-winter, it’s a fairy tale in my opinion, complete with finding the brightest star in the sky and wishing on it Lyrics: In the middle of a winter’s day I feel a little bit cloudy and grey There’s a riddle standin’ in the way How a man can have so many things Underneath the Christmas tree And still not have what he needs In My hour of darkness Find me, find me Look up to the sky Find me, find me Find me the brightest star And wish for you and I Watch over the seeds you sow If you want to see the children grow You got to give them love and let them go Remember what the cricket said Everything you heart desires Will come to you in it’s own time In My hour of darkness Find me, find me Look up to the sky Find me, find me Find me the brightest star And wish for you and I Wish I may, wish I might x 6 My hour of darkness Find me, find me Look up to the sky Find me, find me It might be the finest hour Find me, find me I wish that you were mine Wish I may, wish I might x 8 So don’t forget to bow your head And imagine more than what you see ‘After all life is but a dream really, most of that album is on my McCoy playlist…especially: If Wishing Made it So I’m Angry (’cause I Still Love You) Amazon link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000TGXWCS/ref=sr_1_album_79_rd?ie=UTF8&child=B000TGRG3Y&qid=1321728424&sr=1-79 hope it’s okay for me to reply to this!

Oh, hon, none of us are really strangers! We have a love of ST stories – and apparently McCoy :D – in common. Please feel welcome! Also, I love hearing from people I haven’t heard from before. ;) And thank you, thank you, thank you for the song suggestions! I will check out the album; it sounds really awesome!
