18 and counting…

Today I am bogged down with work. It’s a Monday, so this is practically a fact of life. I am taking a moment from my busy day to contemplate something non-work-related:

K/S/M fandom.

No surprise, am I right?? :)

I am officially up to 18 works—most of which can be classified as some form of Kirk/Spock/McCoy. Why?

1) Their dynamic fascinates me to no end, and
2) While I never thought I’d be a threesome-girl, I just cannot imagine any pairing of these two without the third sneaking into the middle. This OT3 is not just a kink… I think it’s canon in the klmeri!verse.

By now most of you know that romennim and I are bound-by-KSM-love/bosom-buddies-sadly-separated-by-an-ocean. We are each other’s support system for the writing process—and the inherent troubles that come along with being authors in a small fandom. I especially have a deep respect for romennim because she gifts us her fics in a language which is not native to her, and she is pretty much the one-gal-band for K/S/M (not to mention ST itself) in the Italian fandom.

You know I love ya, romennim!

I have a bad habit of writing regularly. This means that you guys end up piled under a mountain of fics ALL THE TIME. For this, I apologize. It’s not my intention to bore ya’ll slap to pieces. On the other hand, I don’t think I can stop! I feel the loneliness of our ksm_ot3 comm; the only way to keep it lively is to write and post.

With that said, my moment is up.

I’m making a little niche here of creepy/crazy/humorous fics, but that’s hardly my fault. Blame it on the brain and my OT3-mongrel; they’re in cahoots. Such an epicly BAD team combination. ;)

*blushes* I hope you know that I don’t know where I would be now – and where my stories would be – without you, dear :) your friendship is a great gift for me that said, I hope you’ll continue to write and share your fantastic works with us :)

Bore? Piled under? Are you kidding?! It’s a freaking blessing! I feel exactly as you do about the OT3 and that there isn’t enough of it in the world. Coming home each day to a new story of the three is a goddamned gift and I cherish it. I just wish there was more. (Not from you specifically. You give us enough already.) Hopefully with you injecting more attention into the small section of the fandom more people will follow your example. I know it makes me want to write. (Lets hope that actually goes somewhere yeah?)

I do hope it actually goes somewhere. I always say start small if you are unsure. Then grab it by the horns and wrestle it to the ground when you are! :D (Sorry, picturing cowboy!Bones here…) And much thanks! I wouldn’t want readers to go “omg another klmeri story, doesn’t she ever stop?” It’s nice to know there are those who can tolerate me. :)

      • dark_kaomi

Well we kinda do but not in an annoyed way. More of an awed way like “Where does she find the time to write all of this? Doesn’t she eat? Sleep? Goddamn.”

Okay, so I’ll admit that makes me feel like some strange version of a superhero. Behold my Super-Writing Powers!! Bwahahahaaa! :D Really, I do have a life–it’s just incredibly dull until I find a way to utilize my advanced degree. I’m still looking for its On-switch. ( -sigh- ) Until then, I need a hobby. Since I’ve already got the obsession, it just makes sense to feed it. :)

          • dark_kaomi

I completely agree. My obsession sadly is reading which isn’t bad but I’d really like to create something. Just need to make myself do it. You kinda are. What’s your degree in? What do you want to do with your life?

            • writer_klmeri

Hey, reading is great. If you can’t read, you miss out on a whole lot of wonderful ideas. :) I’m reading-obsessed too, and not just for KSM. This is a quote from The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart:

“[…]when you are looking for… what I am looking for, you have to look in strange places. Men can never look at the sun, except downwards, at his reflection in things of the earth. If he is reflected in a dirty puddle, he is still the sun. There is nowhere I will not look to find him.”

This is my feeling, exactly, on finding a good story. There’s nowhere I won’t look. :) So yes, I love to read. Mathematics. Good, hard-core stuff that makes me weep tears of joy for its beautiful structure. Sometimes I want to make Spock speak nothing but mathematical riddles. I may, one day.

I like that quote. I’m more picky but I also branch out more. I’m always willing to give something a try but I drop things easily if it has too many things I dislike. You should! You so should! Holy fuck that would be amazing. Hmmm math. I love numbers myself; they’re so nice and stable. You could be an engineer. Or a professor. Best thing I can think of is work at a college or something.

                • writer_klmeri

-grimace- Which is precisely why I left the PhD program. I didn’t want to be a professor after I had a taste of it. (Always knew I didn’t, even before then.) Engineer means engineer-degree, unfortunately. There are other options. It’s just the same old song-and-dance… we want experience lalala… poo on you! Okay, I would have done this by now but LJ won’t read mathematical syntax properly. I’d have to pull up my old program and code a fic in TeX, make it a .pdf and possibly have people download it to read. Otherwise… :( Spock can’t speak the syntax properly! And I refuse to give up the Greek alphabet!!

                  • dark_kaomi

Yeah I know what you mean. Where can you go to get experience? There is a way. I know people have done it before. There’s a Kirk/Spock fic that has it I’m almost positive. I think I can find it if you want. Also do you have some type of messenger?

It’s really more about someone taking a chance hiring you. Large companies are more prone to do this, as they can afford the investment. Anyhoo, find me that link ’cause I’d be most curious!
