2017 Fic Recap

Date:

0

This year I wrote and posted:
10 stories for an approximate total of 135,000 words. I’d feel concern for that, but I knowingly wrote less in order to participate more in the fandom. How you ask? By spending an entire month designing a website dedicated to Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. So yeah. Less words but more commitment. Go figure!

2016 Fic Recap

Date:

3

This year I wrote and posted:
11 stories for an approximate total of 165,000 words. Not surprisingly 50% of that total is the last Holiday series story, which became a six-month endeavor. Am I regretting any of it? Heck no. I reached two million words partly because of stories that wouldn’t end, and boy was it nice to finally achieve my long-term goal!

2015 Fic Recap

Date:

5

This year I wrote and posted:
13 stories (or drabble series) for an approximate total of 190,000 words.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
Apparently 2015 was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it year. Time got away from me quite frequently, mainly because life was somewhat turbulent during my day job (that is, pretty much the entire department I worked in turned over except for me). I know I didn’t have nearly as much attention for writing, let alone time. That said, I wrote about what I predicted knowing what the year would be like. Hey, at least I wrote!

2014 Fic Recap

Date:

3

This year I wrote and posted:
23 stories (or drabble series) for an approximate total of 230,000 words.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
Less again. I believe if I quit my day job I could correct this downward trend in no time. However, then I would be broke. It’s a lose-lose situation.

2013 Fic Recap

Date:

9

This year I wrote and posted:
32 stories (or drabble series) for an approximate total of 260,000 words.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
Less. So much less. But that’s the trade-off with having a busier RL, so I’m okay with it.

2012 Fic Recap

Date:

1

This year I wrote and posted:
23 stories (or drabble series) for an approximate total of 320,000 words.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
Less. However, I finally landed a good-paying job and I feel the exchange was fair. After all, writing fanfiction may be fabulous but it doesn’t pay the bills!

2011 Writing Recap

Date:

2

This year I wrote and posted:
37 stories (or drabble series, lol) for an approximate total of 525,000 words. If you will recall, 2010’s word count was 350k, so I am a little shocked at this… o.O

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
I worried I would run out of ideas, yet instead I seemed to stumble upon more than ever! I do try valiantly to shy away from repeating the same storylines over and over, however. For example, I didn’t write nearly as many creepy mind-hoodoo stories as I did last year. LOL.
