The year wherein a pandemic had eaten the world once but kept coming back for seconds.

This year I wrote and posted:
6 stories for an approximate total of 35,000 words.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted?
This fic recap is miserably late for a reason. Did it matter that I wrote a few stories in 2021? That year was a struggle for my muse. Then the muse gave up and went on official vacation. It didn’t give me a return date either! Yikes.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
I didn’t think I would write a random crewman’s perspective, let alone one who sees more than anyone else on the ship. But it was a good, refreshing take, in my humble opinion.

What’s your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Say a Little Prayer. I adore McCoy’s Joanna, so giving her the limelight is never a mistake.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I feel the same for 2021 as I did in 2020. Writing still seems like a risk, and I haven’t figured out why yet.

From my past year of writing, what was….
My best story of this year:
Twist and Take. McCoy sacrifices himself once again, this time for a version of his favorite people who never knew him at all.

My most popular story of this year (based on comments/kudos):
Masters of Fate. String-of-fate is a beloved trope of fans everywhere!

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
Clear From the Battle (But Not the War).

Most fun story to write:
Say a Little Prayer. Adventures with Joanna and the three adults wrapped around her little finger.

Story with the single sexiest moment:
Consider Me Accounted For. Is it sexy to be gentle with the ones you love?

Most “Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
None. Thank goodness!

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Masters of Fate, more specifically to Kirk and McCoy. Writing them as younger men who don’t necessary understand each other was an interesting puzzle to solve.

Hardest story to write:
Masters of Fate. I haven’t finished it because, although the final scene is written, the bridge that leads there still eludes me.

Biggest Disappointment:
2021. What a year.

Biggest Surprise:
None.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story:
None.

Fic-writing goals for 2022:
Is it too late in the year to say to write something? I don’t know. It’s been on my mind lately that I have a few drafts gathering dust.

I love the Triumvirate and that will never change.

But do I still love writing with the same passion? That, I suppose, is yet to be determined.
