I know I suck. I have been trying to update Many Bells Down for over a week. I outlined scenes, gotten some good dialogue going, and yet have continuously been sidetracked or found I don’t have enough time to finish what I started. My apologies. My new job is consuming my brainpower like a diesel engine. :( I guess the good news is that my work is not boring. Alas, small favors. I would much prefer to write fic!

The fandom seems quieter as of late. Are we all attempting to get our bearings now that school (work/family) is underway again?

The fandom is utterly quiet (or, as quiet as I can judge from my, admittedly, poor vantage point). I keep hoping it’s just that the BB has pulled all the writers away, but I know a lot have moved on to shiny new fandoms. I will be here to read whenever R/L and the muses allow you time to write!

While I can imagine moving onto a new fandom, I don’t entirely picture *leaving* this one as a consequence of said action. It’s such a fertile and fun playground! Only three fandoms have motivated me enough to write fic, and this is by far the most inspiring of those three. *snuggles fandom* Anyway, thank you, WN. I appreciate knowing you are around!

*smacks you gently* You so do not suck. *glares* You have a real life, like the rest of us (unfortunately) who would much prefer to live in worlds of our own creation. Unhappily, we do have to do necessary things like work and…work, and so on. I’m in the same boat, basically. Working 50-60 hours a week leaves me little time to do anything else, and what little I have of that is being spent in frantically trying to get my STBB written. And then we go into NaNo, woo. Hope things calm down for you soon! *hugs*

So sorry… I was feeling guilty for my lack of presence. *sheepish* I am grateful for work (and money, oh god, money, ’cause I’m poor) but sad that my brain hasn’t adjusted to its new schedule, which most certainly does not include slacking in the hobbies area. I’m on a small fishing boat, rocking gently. You are on a fully rigged marine vessel being tossed about in the middle of an ocean storm. Seriously? I cannot figure out how you manage to work sooo much and still write once when you aren’t working. AND THEN you are always moving from one big writing project to the next! After work, I feel brain-dead and so I kick off my heels and collapse on my bed, only eventually rousing myself to scout out dinner. It’s almost too time-consuming to boot the laptop. *hugs you back* Promise me you’ll relax on your London trip!

*also hugs* I definitely will relax! I fully plan to leave whatever hasn’t gotten done and all work-related things firmly behind me when I board that plane. I’ve been so busy that I hadn’t realized it was this close – now I’m so excited!!

I think it’s a combination of school/work getting busy and underway. I’m currently staring at the clock and wondering if it’s just too late to even consider dinner at this point because I’ve been too busy to stop and cook. From the fandom standpoint I know the BigBang is coming up, and in the Jim-and-bones community they’re doing that crossover challenge that’s supposed to be launching sometime soon-ish. Hopefully it’ll all start picking back up and leveling out.

Boy do I know how that feels. I’ll tell myself, well, I had something to drink and isn’t that good enough? I can eat a nice breakfast tomorrow – which I never do because I am not really a breakfast person. I find in these situations it’s always best to have fresh fruit in the house. At least you can eat solid food (non-preparable, except for a quick rinsing) rather than resorting to a habit of fast food burgers and fries. I can tell I’m over-worked when I end up popping by a fast food restaurant. : I do know that the crossover challenge fics at jim_and_bones are now being posted for the most part, except a few which are still in progress, I think. It’s probably a combination of everything – school/work, STBB… Fall is always so busy!

So agree about fruit. I’ve been making salads with as many toppings as I can (cheese, garbanzo/kidney beans, etc) as quick healthy meals. Fruit and raw veggies are also very handy, and I definitely need to go pick some more up. I need to start waking up an extra 5 minutes earlier to try and fit time for breakfast. Ooh thanks for the heads up. I knew they were supposed to be posted soon, but I haven’t had time to check. I’ve finally got a day off today, so fic-reading-ahoy!

Aw! I’ve been feeling that way about work lately – it’s been insane for the past two weeks. Lol, I guess work being boring has it’s up sides and its down sides. I think a lot of people may be busy because of school starting, but lots of people are probably working on big bang. I know that’s what’s keeping me from opening up any of my other fic. :( I love participating, but I’m also kind of excited for it to be over, so I can work on some of my other fics, too!

When I had a boring job, I starting writing fanfiction. So, yeah, it had a great upside. And not only was it boring, but it was easy and hardly filled up my time – another upside. Different job, different work. I try to scratch out a few sentences on lunch break while stuffing a sandwich in my mouth and always end up resorting to a novel or my smartphone for entertainment instead. An hour lunch break is just not long enough to relax! I’ve always thought so. It’s definitely school, I think, for a lot of people – whether they are in school themselves or have kids in school. With school comes extra obligations, you know? It’s definitely STBB, too. You are right – you focus all your creative energy into typing out those last chapters. After a combination of all these things, the brain is likely to rebel against extra activities.
