Yesterday was for Movies…

I watched both The Avengers and This Means War yesterday. I have a few thoughts/reactions. For those of you who may not have seen one or the other, any spoilers are behind lj-cuts.

The Avengers:

I spent half of the movie trying to figure who the actor was playing Bruce Banner (ie the Hulk). I was completely disturbed by the fact he looked like an older version of Andrew Scott, who was Jim Moriarty in BBC’s Sherlock. Then, of course, I stayed for the credits and realized Mark Ruffalo =/= Andrew Scott. But seriously, people? Am I the only one who was confused at first?

Exhibit A –

We can agree there is a resemblence around the eyes, yes?

Why did Phil have to die? I mean, c’mon, HE WAS A FANBOY! This just saddened me to no end.

And why was Natasha so wishy-washy at some parts? Not when she was trying to get info from Loki, but with the whole Barton thing. The lip-biting confused me. But other than that, I think the actress Scarlett did an awesome job. Especially at the beginning when she pulled a gun on Banner and looked so freaked out.

Stark is made of punch lines. I don’t think Downey Jr has played a character better. My love for him is epic. I will be seeing Iron Man 3 during its opening weekend. Need I say more?

Also, I think many people would agree the best part of the movie is when Loki starts bullshiting about how god-like he is – blah, blah, blah – and the Hulk smashes him repeatedly like a ragdoll. The theater’s audience erupted into applause at this part, including me. I THINK THIS SHOULD HAPPEN EVERY TIME A VILLAIN BEGINS HIS EGOTISTICAL RANT. HULK SMASH.

This Means War:

All right, I’m just going to cut this entire section.

Maybe I missed the entire point of Reese’s character, Lauren. I must have. I could have sworn the only thing she did plot-wise was cause FDR and Tuck to have a big married couple fight which led them realize in the end THEY STILL LOVE EACH OTHER NO MATTER WHAT. Srsly.

And if you wore slash googles to this movie, I bet you immmediately took them off. There was no need for slash googles – THE SLASH WAS IN THE SCRIPT! Could it have been more obvious?

Anyway, my favorite part (I didn’t exactly care for the movie as a whole, I thought it was a little clumsy) was when Chris – I mean FDR – kept calling his MIA bro because Tuck had baled on their sports night. And he had that seriously worried tone in his voice: (to Tuck’s voicemail) “It’s been like an hour…” and I haven’t heard from you and omgI’mpicturingyoudeadorKIDNAPPEDWHEREAREYOU?!!!

I laughed so hard then had an awwww moment afterwards.

And that’s about all I had to say on that movie. :P

{{HUGS}} Re: Mark Ruffalo and Andrew Scott — Dude, you have some mega-sharp EYES. I would never have caught that, but now that I stare at the two pics side by side, YES, hell yeah, there’s a resemblance. Um-huh. Re: The Avengers — I SO need to see this MOVIE. Gah!! Re: This Means War — SLASH GOGGLES ARE SO NOT REQUIRED. Mine fell off of their own volition as soon as FDR reminded Tuck that the Tuckster had SEEN FDR’S PEEN, implying that said Tuckster would have taken NOTE OF ITS SIZE. Come ON, peeps. ROFL.

Go watch The Avengers. If only for Robert Downey Jr. humor. K? FDR reminded Tuck that the Tuckster had SEEN FDR’S PEEN, implying that said Tuckster would have taken NOTE OF ITS SIZE. *facepalm* The writers just handed Slash to us on a silver platter. Clearly they weren’t going for the romantic comedy crowd at all. Just us slash fangirls. Ridiculous.

Totally addicted to the Avengers, bb. And, yeah, the whole Coulson thing? Nope, I’m in denial. #coulsonlives #furylies I have PHEELS so I won’t spam your journal with them. But I have posted a couple of stories and have about three in progress. Totally smitten. With “This Means War”, the best ending was an “alternate” ending on the DVD release. Where Tuck and FDR are clinging to each other in the end. And THAT’S the way it should have ended. Seriously.

WN, I’m beginning to suspect your PHEELS are a fandom-wide epidemic. Okay, the fact that there exists an alternate ending to This Means War tells me the writers were aware it was necessary to sell copies of the movie.
