Today has been a very good, if not great, day. It feels like it’s been a long time in coming to have a day where I am just free to be relaxed and happy.
Today, I received my first professional certification! I am the first employee at my company (of 20,000+ employees) to become an ACDA – ACL Certified Data Analyst. (ACL is Audit Control Language – a special programming language, basically.) It’s an exciting platform we in Internal Audit have implemented within the last year or so to improve/create some of our continuous monitoring controls. When I first started as a temp at the company, my boss gave me the ACL pamphlet and said, “Learn it.” They had bought the server version used for the data analytics, wanted to use it to its fullest capacity but did not have the time.
Little did he know when he gave me that task, I intended to learn it and more! LOL.
So today is a good day, everyone! I have been on pins and needles for four weeks to hear this verdict on my certification.
Yay!
Now… how can I persuade the department to fund reprinting my business cards?

How nice that your hard work has paid off…as for the business card..mmm…they spent all that money buying the program…should want people to know that they are using it.. If sales or clients are involved then they should want them to know that they are on top of things.
Sales/company funds are always involved, whether it’s improving operations or preventing fraud. I’m more on the fraud side. :) Yes, we are going out of our way to promote the tool. We recently did a presentation for all of the finance managers.
mmm..wondering if they have some built in monies in relations to this operation that would cover your new business cards
Oh, there’s plenty of money in the department budget for such a small thing.
Yay! I’m so happy for you! I will live vicariously through your professional success and try not to think about how failboat my own has been lately! :D
*hugs* I remember how frightening it was before I found this work I really, truly like to do. I remember the dreariness and the depression. It’s hard, getting by day to day through more lackluster and under-appreciated jobs because you have to have work and money to live. I don’t consider myself entitled, just insanely lucky. I wish this kind of luck for all the hard workers out there!
Congratulations!
Thanks!
So glad that now the public will recognize your awesomeness! :D
Aw, thank you!
Hurray for you! I hope you reap the benefits of your certification and all the hard work you put into getting it. I’m so glad you have a job you like doing. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just sit at home and read/write fanfic all day, but since we have to work, it’s such a bonus to enjoy what we do.
Thank you, and truer words never spoken! It’s no fun spending 8 hours or more a day on work that feels like a waste of time. That would just make me feel like I burned up 8 hours I could have used to write.
