It’s that time of year again! For the third year in a row I have signed up for space_wrapped. Unfortunately, the posting begins in the middle of December rather than at the beginning, but we can manage to wait those extra fifteen days, right? :)
The minimum is 20k words. The counter is set. The goal is increased by 10k after each level is reached, until the fic is done. In years past, I have managed to reach over 25k words. Let’s see what happens with this story!
Per usual, this post will be continually updated as I write.

Summary: Tis the season, and Christopher Pike had a life. In fact he had an expensive bottle of brandy, a backlog of party invitations, and the attention of the pretty brunette at the opposite end of the bar. These things only served to make his regret infinitely more poignant when he answered a call and was reminded he had something else in his life too: a boy named Jim Kirk. “Hey, Dad,” Jim shouted over a racket of noise, “bad news!” …and it was unfortunate news indeed. Jim was in jail. On Christmas Eve.
Or, the story in which Pike is a saintly Father of Christmas, Jim has fallen in with a gang of elves, and nobody but Jim’s best friend is confessing to the crime of who stole the North Star.
Prompt: Jim’s in jail on Christmas Eve. Does Bones bail him out? (The answer to this prompt, from my humble writer’s perspective, is no. It’s much more complicated than that. Then again, Bones may have his part to play in freeing Jim.)

Thank you! Good luck to you too!
OMG! I love the summary! I cannot wait until you post! And, no, I haven’t forgotten “For the Sake of Nothing”, just not reading much of anything right now as I force myself to write.
It’s going to be fun. I wanted to write something a little less tear-inducing than last year’s story. Well, For the Sake of Nothing is done so it will be available when you are ready to read. I wish you luck in your writing endeavors!
The holiday season is looking like it’s going to be a memorable one. Oh and I can’t state enough how much I loves me some DaddyPike/Jim.
I hope you like mystery as well!
mystery is one of my favorite genres. This story seems like it is right up my alley. Have you ever thought of writing a story with teen pike and small boy Jim? I think I’ve read a few where teen pike and teen george were mentioned in passing. Of course also the teen bones and small boy jim. Anyways back on topic-can’t wait for your yuletide fic. I know I will love it.
This story is at the top of my wish list for Santa. Merry Christmas to me!!
:) Can I just say Pike really loves his boy? Because those are the easiest parts to write – when Chris is worrying about Jim, or fighting hard on Jim’s behalf.
You most certainly can. I have such a soft spot for these 2. I often think that if I had to choose between these guys and Jim/Bones I um….would pick Chris and Jim. There I said it…what a relief to get that off my chest. I sometimes think that if Jim had to choose he would also pick Pike. The deal breaker for Bones would be that Jim loves George more than anyone and Pike got the history with Kirk Sr. Aww who am I kidding I’ll take anything of these boys that I can get my hands on.
Hey, we all love what we love. I simply like to read about a strong older father figure in Jim’s life. Maybe if Jim was in his forties, or not from a past where he never had his father I wouldn’t feel this way. Who knows. :) But Pike fits so well, like there was a Pike-shaped hole in Jim’s life and volia! It’s filled. XD I’m glad you’ve reminded me how much I liked writing Pike in this role.
I’m glad that you enjoy it also. Reminding you is the easy part. The writing part is the hard part but you do it so well. I love It “Pike-shaped hole in Jim’s life”. Maybe Pike has a Jim-shaped hole in his life. Who knows maybe if George had lived he would have influenced Pike’s life in such a way that he would have his own little Jim. Nah Pike would have just hung out with Jim and been the fun Uncle. LOL
